Purely by accident, as I sit down to eat my breakfast this morning in Korea, I have stumbled upon the live broadcast of Trump’s latest White House clown show, this time with special guest Giorgia Meloni. And as usual with all the world leaders who dare to humiliate themselves this way — with the possible exception of Keir Starmer — I have to note that Meloni speaks English far better than Trump, not to mention speaking much more like an educated adult than does America’s dear leader.
Oh I know: “But it’s results that matter.” True, but I was trying to be soft on Trump this morning, since I am watching this idiocy while eating breakfast, and if you’ll pardon me for saying so, my digestion is more important to me than the world order.
So graciously, surely in consideration of the Zelensky debacle, Meloni began her remarks by thanking Trump extensively for everything he has ever done. Perhaps this will throw the populist puppy J. D. Vance off his planned script this time. Anyway, back to breakfast. I always hated watching people make fools of themselves in graduate seminars. I would never try to eat a relaxed meal during one of those classes. This is worse. Meloni looks like she has a headache, smiling at Trump’s juvenile attempts at humor. I don’t blame her.
