If it betrays like a traitor…
Donald Trump is so frustrated with NATO and the EU for refusing to reward Vladimir Putin for his invasion of Ukraine that he has decided to take matters into his own hands, openly condemning Volodymyr Zelensky as the cause of America’s energy problems, problems Trump is now “solving” by overriding his own country’s sanctions against Russia in order to directly buy Russian fuel with American cash to help fund Putin’s war effort. The same Putin, incidentally, who is openly helping Iran win its war against the United States, i.e., to kill American soldiers and destroy American military facilities.
And yet the MAGA morons will continue to shout “TDS” and “Russia hoax” at anyone who dares to suggest the obvious. The patently, absurdly, Ockam’s-razor-screaming obviousness of what Trump is and has always been, via-à-vis Putin’s tyranny.
Victor Davis Hanson, Mark Levin, every former Republican Tea Party senator, and all the rest. Frauds, profiteering opportunists, America-hating useful idiots for the destruction of the West, Putin apologists. Yes, I repeat, Putin apologists; for to be a Trump apologist at this point simply cannot rationally be distinguished from being a Putin apologist.
These “intellectual leaders” (read “bootlicking lackeys”) of the MAGA movement are tacitly joining Trump’s wish to prop up a Russian dictator who is aggressively seeking to overthrow America and her allies, a wish which has been manifest in all of Trump’s words and actions for a decade. They are either supporting him knowingly, or they are morally blind as only an imbecile or psychopath can be. I do not believe they are imbeciles or psychopaths, which leaves me but one option: They know, and they are choosing it. The reasons they are choosing it may vary, and are no doubt wrapped in layer upon layer of sub-Chamberlain rationalization (Chamberlain was not anti-British, as these yokels are anti-American), but that makes no difference as long as we grant them sufficient intelligence and moral awareness to see what everyone else can see and draw the inference that any moderately intelligent thirteen-year-old could draw. Their cells in hell await them.
