Random Thoughts On American Demagoguery, Creep Edition
The trouble with followers.– The weakminded types who are quickest to join a crowd for fear of being left alone outside also tend to be the quickest to run for the door for fear of being left alone inside.
Seeing how it feels.– Marjorie Taylor Greene, who was one of the loudest MAGA cheerleaders while Donald Trump was lying and rabble-rousing to foment the mob rage that culminated in groups of anti-American criminals (since pardoned) marching through the U.S. Capitol chanting “Hang Mike Pence,” has now experienced from the other side Trump’s predilection for incendiary attacks against stalwart allies who dare to disagree with him about anything affecting him personally. Looks good on her. Who knows, maybe the penny will finally drop for Greene and others of her ilk.
Blessings.– I caught a few minutes of the remarks in the U.S. House of Representatives before the vote calling for the release of the so-called “Epstein Files.” One Republican concluded his brief rant by shouting, “God bless Donald J. Trump!” I can’t think of a more perfect context for a call for God’s blessing on the head of a world-famous sleazeball, shameless groper of women, and serial ogler (at least) of very, very young women.
