“Do what I want,” belligerent child demands
A sixteen-year-old Swedish girl, Greta Thunberg, sits sternly, arms folded, facing members of the United States Congress, the elected representatives of the American people.
Having previously submitted a decrepit, thoroughly discredited UN document (the IPCC’s climate Armageddon fantasy report), the earliest iterations of which the congressmen have been familiar with since before this girl was born, she now declares, peremptorily, “I don’t want you to listen to me. I want you to listen to the scientists. And then I want you to….”
She wants them to. These are her demands, issued to the entire U.S. population. She has no qualms or timidity about staring down the elected leaders of a nation of which she is not a citizen, and in which she would be too young to vote if she were a citizen, and leveling ultimatums about her desire for new laws that would cripple the world’s largest economy, impoverishing millions, while violating basic liberties entrenched in that nation’s founding documents.
She glares at men and women three for four times her age without self-consciousness, and condescends to them — “This is the time to wake up,” she says — about matters concerning which she has the understanding and perspective of…well, of an indoctrinated sixteen-year-old Eurosocialist apparatchik-in-the-making. If she were two years older and more foul-mouthed, she could be David Hogg, the anti-gun twerp who scoffs at his elders’ not knowing “how to run an f-ing democracy” — which he proposes to run by turning it into a police state. If she were fourteen years older, she could be Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the anti-everything-reminiscent-of-freedom twerp who scoffs at her elders’ not knowing how to run a democracy — which she proposes to run by turning it into a police state.
If we lived in an age that still valued adulthood and rationality, this teenager would be getting scolded by her parents and teachers for her appalling disrespect toward her elders, while being ignored by everyone else.
Agitprop in the era of progressive infantilism. Progressive infantilism. Come to think of it, that sounds like a medical term for advanced senility. That’s about right.
