Random Thoughts — with Pictures
Yesterday, there was a funny story about Muslim children at a school in Philadelphia — that would be the one in Pennsylvania, USA — singing a cute little song about crushing the infidels. Today comes the even funnier explanation of this charming video: it was merely an unfortunate oversight in the song vetting process.
I can believe that. I can’t count how many times, during my brief stint in my Catholic elementary school’s choir, when we were in the middle of practicing some ditty about killing the Jews, when at the last minute, a wary nun would say, “No, no, we shouldn’t use that one — someone might be videotaping the mass.”
I feel sorry for all involved. I mean, there are a lot of people out there who might confuse this honest mistake for evidence that Islam actually promotes violence against non-Muslims. How unfortunate.
Kim Jong Un has been doing a bit of saber-rattling of late, including firing some short-range missiles this week, to express his displeasure with the state of negotiations regarding his bid for permanent Western protection for his dictatorship, eventual absorption of the Korean peninsula, and international respect and legitimacy — er, I mean the negotiations regarding North Korean denuclearization.
In response, his pal Dennis Rodman — or rather, Donald Trump — insists everything is cool. Trump tweeted the following comforting message:
Anything in this very interesting world is possible, but I believe that Kim Jong Un fully realizes the great economic potential of North Korea, & will do nothing to interfere or end it. He also knows that I am with him & does not want to break his promise to me. Deal will happen!
I know that I, for one, feel supremely optimistic about the future of world peace when I see the President of the United States saying of a bloodthirsty sex-slave-owning tyrant, “He knows I am with him.” Such warm pillow talk. “Don’t worry, Jongie, you know I’m always with you.”
“All you need is love.”
Meanwhile, the Trump administration backs opposition efforts to oust the socialist tyrant in Venezuela. As of this writing, no one can explain why. (Of course, Trump won’t actively help the opposition in Venezuela, because his other dear one, Vladimir Putin, says he shouldn’t, and we know Trump never disagrees with Vladdy. NO COLLUSION!)
Anyway, it’s Sunday here in Korea, and a beautiful spring day, so it seems a perfect time for some new spring pictures, fresh out of the virtual darkroom. Enjoy!
