From the “How dare you!” file

The director of the U.S. CDC claims that it is likely America will see three thousand COVID deaths per day over the next sixty days. Needless to say, he does not mention that if this prediction comes true, it would make each of the next two months only half as deadly as the worst month of the 1918 flu pandemic, which deaths were incurred by a nation that at that time had barely one hundred million citizens.

On the contrary, the CDC director (who does not deserve to be named or known) takes great and well-planned pains to proclaim that, “We are in the timeframe now that probably for the next 60 to 90 days we’re going to have more deaths per day than we had at 9/11 or we had at Pearl Harbor.”

I believe this carefully scripted rhetorical trope — the comparison of daily coronavirus numbers to the death tolls at Pearl Harbor or in the September 11th terrorist attacks, with the plain implication that this pandemic is exponentially worse than those events — officially elevates the CDC director out of the ranks of run-of-the-mill shoeshine boys for tyranny, and right into the upper echelon of the “Colossal Propagandistic Jackasses” category. (And this attempt to frame COVID-19 as the worst event in American history is no one-off from the CDC director, but rather has become the new theme, as we saw from Dr. Birx yesterday.)

On behalf of humans everywhere, I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the memories and families of the 2,900 people who died when their office building collapsed after being hit by hijacked airliners, and the 2,400 people who died during a surprise attack by the Japanese Navy Air Service. We are all, in a sense, responsible for creating a world in which conscienceless self-promoters like that CDC director can gain important positions and a public voice in our societies, and therefore we all, in that sense, bear some guilt for the outrageous and belittling insult such a slavish man dared to spew on the reality of so many people’s sudden and violent death under foreign attack, merely to advance his masters’ tyrannical agenda.

These people know no bounds — which, paradoxically, is exactly the opposite of the condition they seek to impose upon you.
