A Morning Walk

After nine long months of recovering from two foot surgeries, this walking fanatic is finally returning to his proper routine, including a short early morning walk, alone, during which I clear my mind of irrelevancies, organize my thoughts, and generally enjoy observing the world around me on its own terms, which is to say entirely without practical concerns, without the emotional mire of immediate necessity or awkwardness or frustration, and without caring at all — the universe doesn’t care, you know — about those irrelevant blips in time and movement that you and I typically see as our insuperable problems and painful disappointments and irreconcilable complexities.

Some images from an easy, unhurried morning walk, just looking around at the disinterested universe. (Click on each image for a bigger view.)
